Test your eyesight: how many faces can you make

We are programmed to recognize faces instantly: a social reflex that has become instinctive. Faced with a random pattern (clouds, rocks, tree bark), our brain "fills in" the image and adds a nose, eyes, and mouth where there is only chance.

This phenomenon, called pareidolia , is not a mistake but a wonderful cognitive trick: it helps us understand the world, even if it means imagining faces where there are none.

Your mission is this: observe the tree and count the faces it hides.
Begin in the center, where two figures seem to be conversing, their features blending into the wood grain.
Then, move toward the base: older figures appear, with deep wrinkles and beards outlined by ridges.
Finally, near the roots, young faces emerge, as if whispering from the shadows.
Take your time: the more you observe, the more the image will transform.

Our tips for better identifying the details
Move back a little from the screen or squint to simplify the contrasts.
Imagine the image in black and white: focus on the shadows and the lights.
Look for “C” or “S” shapes, typical of facial contours.
