She couldn’t explain why she stepped inside.
The bell chimed softly. The air smelled of old books and rosewood. Behind the counter stood a woman with silver hair and eyes that seemed to know things.
“You felt it call to you,” the woman said before Lena could speak.
Lena smiled awkwardly. “I guess I did. It’s… beautiful.”
“It’s more than that,” the woman replied. “This one’s for those who nurture without asking for praise. The kind who grow gardens in people’s hearts and don’t even know it.”
Lena looked down. Her life had always been quiet—early mornings, tea in the sun, tending to her grandmother’s garden, volunteering at the animal shelter. She never thought of herself as someone special.
